"My husband, Joe and I were very pleased to have the opportunity to participate in one of your Chill Weekends in December of 2011. We had never been south of Playa del Carmen and were interested in seeing what was down in that part of Mexico. So we thought we would use the Chill Weekend as an introduction. Since we had a time share in Cancun, we extended our trip and made it a much needed week's vacation.
Making the arrangements with Donna was a pleasure. She made sure that we had all the information we needed either by telephone or e-mail. She was so sweet about answering all my questions, and believe me, I had a lot of them.
When we arrived in Cancun, we were met by Cameron and his driver for the weekend. It was so nice not to have to worry about where we were going or how we were going to get there. We stayed at a small hotel in Playa del Carmen and took time to explore the area on foot. Soon decided it was too crowded for our tastes, but we enjoyed meeting and talking with Cameron and Donna and learning more about Los Arboles.
All the restaurants we went to were perfect for the occasion, whether it be to meet the other people who were also interested in what Los Arboles was all about or, just getting familiar with the area. We had enough free time to get a really good feel about Tulum and actually fall in love with the beach and the small town.
Our visit to Los Arboles itself turned our world around. Joe was not too crazy about what little he could glean from the brochures and e-mail information that was available at the time., But he is really good at humoring me when I get really excited about the concept of being off the grid and in an environment that was low key and safe. We visited a number of the homes that were still being worked on, and Joe took off. I didn't see him until we sat down for lunch that afternoon. He was asking contractors and other people there about the structures, and more questions than I could think of. He was as hooked as I was.
We talked to Greg and after looking at the property several times, picked the one that would suit us. It was really a pleasure to talk to the staff and get to know them. They were willing to answer any question and I'm sure that if we had decided to not purchase at that time, there would have been no problem. We felt they bent over backwards to show us all we wanted to see before we left for home. We actually went to our timeshare in Cancun and decided that we would not go back anymore, but go to the Tulum area instead from now on.
Needless to say, we did purchase one of the lots and actually went back in April of 2012 to see the area again and learn about the laws and how to get around the area. Even though it was not a Chill Weekend, Cameron and Donna spent time with us in getting us introduced to our neighbors and others who also purchase lots. Now we can't wait until we retire and build our home and move down. Until then, we have to settle for attending the next HOA so we can see the progress that's been made.
Thank you Los Arboles staff for giving us a beautiful direction for our retirement years. Something wonderful to look forward to in our next life."
